Our Burial ground assessors have systems in place to control all the associated risks during their work and this includes contractors, groups, volunteers and members of the public. They owe a general duty of care to visitors and other members of the public who might be present whilst they carry out the work. Responsibilities are also set out in various legislation covering burial grounds. They follow Local Authorities’ Cemeteries Order 1977 (LACO) and the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations and Guidelines.
Over the last 30 years, eight people in the UK have been killed when a memorial has fallen on them. Given the number of memorials and the number of visitors to burial grounds in any year, the risk of any injury is extremely low. However, this general low level of risk may be called into question by the public following an incident or by operators when it comes to their assessment of the theoretical risk. Where risk is present, our staff assess and manage the risks posed by memorials installed in a burial ground to provide assurance that the risks are low and that they are properly managed.

Where complex structural reinforcement is required, we are able to fabricate and install bespoke metal systems.
